Melissa Meyer, Outstanding Geography Major

Minor: Interdisicplinary environmental studies

Hometown: Manalapan, New Jersey

Favorite Experience at UA: It sounds cliche, but I don’t think I can choose just one favorite experience at UA. Every class I’ve taken, every professor I’ve had, and every friend I’ve met have shaped my college experience and helped me grow. The University of Alabama and the city of Tuscaloosa have become my home away from home, and I’m thankful for every memory I’ve made while here!

Favorite Class: My favorite class was GY410 National Parks with Dr. Weber. My dream job growing up was to become a national park ranger! I’ve visited a few national parks in recent years, and they’re some of the most beautiful places in the world. Learning about their history as well as their current projects/research emphasized the parks’ importance to me and reminded me how beautiful parts of this country can be.

Future Plans: I’m hopefully going to continue my education at UA with a Master’s of Science in Geography!
