Emily Ray | Distinguished Undergraduate Scholar; James D. and Donjette Yarbrough Scholarship

Major: Foreign Languages & Literature with a concentration in French

Minor: History

Hometown: Prosper, TX

Greatest Success on Campus: My greatest successes on campus have been receiving the James D. and Donjette Yarbrough Endowed Scholarship and being a member of the Huxford Symphony Orchestra.

Favorite Experience: My favorite overall experience in college has been studying abroad in France.

Favorite Class: My favorite course was Ancient Egyptian History (HY384). I loved taking this class because Ancient Egypt is such a fascinating subject. With over 3000 years of history covered in this course, there is so much to learn about. From pharaohs to the pyramids, every lecture was engaging and fascinating.

Favorite Professor: My favorite professor has been Dr. April Stevens. I have had Dr. Stevens as a professor in four of my French classes, and she has made every single class an amazing learning experience. She pushes all her students to achieve their greatest potentials, while being an empathetic and caring teacher.

Future Plans: I will be attending dental school in the fall at UT Health School of Dentistry in Houston.
